Event as part of the Art:walk Festival
With Twentysomething, Aylin Celik brings her own sound to the stage in the Ehrenhof. Between pop, UK garage, neo soul and R'n'B, she creates songs about life in the twenties - direct, multi-layered and with a feel for atmosphere.
The musician, producer and author from Düsseldorf presents her debut album of the same name and complements it with new, previously unreleased tracks. Her music moves between pop, UK garage, neo soul and R'n'B and combines different influences to create a unique sound. Fast beats, driving bass and atmospheric synthesisers meet melodic passages that leave room for emotional nuances. The result is a sound that is both clearly structured and open to change. In terms of content, the songs revolve around life in the twenties: questions of belonging, personal insecurities, relationships and everyday experiences are juxtaposed. Emotions such as longing, anger and lightness are not treated separately, but merge into one another and characterise the narrative structure of the songs. In a live context, a dense soundscape unfolds that combines musical and atmospheric levels. The concert sees itself less as a classical presentation and more as a moment between personal expression and collective experience. As part of the Art:walk Festival, this creates a programme item that makes new voices from the Düsseldorf music scene visible and brings current pop perspectives to the stage.
