Event as part of the Art:walk Festival
The ars cantandi chamber choir brings choral music from the Renaissance to the present day to the Maxkirche. Under the direction of Markus Belmann, selected works are performed in differentiated tonal colours - precise, multi-layered and with great musical presence.
With Chormusik à la carte!, the Maxkirche invites you to a concert with the Düsseldorf chamber choir ars cantandi as part of the Art:walk festival. The ensemble is known for choral music at a high level and for programmes that combine stylistic diversity and tonal differentiation. Under the direction of Markus Belmann, the choir unfolds a multi-layered repertoire that includes music from the Renaissance to the present day. Works from different eras are interpreted with an appropriate tonal approach in each case. The result is a concert evening that combines historical depth and contemporary sensitivity. The ars cantandi chamber choir is a regular guest at festivals and has been featured in productions by WDR, among others. The ensemble was founded by Stephan Schmidt, later shaped by Marcel Andreas Ober and has been under the direction of Markus Belmann since 2020. The choir has its artistic home in Düsseldorf's old town, in the parish of St Lambertus. The special space of the Maxkirche gives the programme an additional concentrated presence.
