Event as part of the Art:walk Festival
Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf presents selected works from its art collection on the theme of "Portrait" at the Art:walk Festival 2026.
Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf has had its own art collection since the 1970s. The internal collection now comprises over 1,200 works by national and international artists with a connection to the region. This includes paintings, drawings, photographs, graphics, sculptures and tapestries. In the 1990s, a focus was placed on Düsseldorf photography and works by Thomas Ruff, Boris Becker and Bernd and Hilla Becher, among others, were purchased. With the exhibition "CLOSE-UP: Portraits from the Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf art collection", the collection is now being made accessible to the general public. It goes five floors underground. The exhibition space on the 5th floor of Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf will be opened for the first time as part of the Art:walk Festival 2026. Selected works on the theme of "portraits" will be on display with a focus on photographic works. Be curious and look forward to an exciting journey of discovery with Thomas Ruff, Bernd Jansen, Katharina Sieverding and other artists. (Source: Art:walk Festival)
