Event as part of the Art:walk Festival
The artist duo half past selber schuld is presenting an impressive special exhibition on contemporary figure and object theatre at the Theatermuseum. Their own stage comics meet international positions - with insights into aesthetics, technology and mechanics.
The exhibition is dedicated to contemporary figure and object theatre and opens up a multifaceted view of an art form that is located between theatre, visual art and technical construction. The duo's own works from the so-called stage comics take centre stage. These combine sculptural figures, narrative elements and sophisticated mechanics to create independent stage situations. They are complemented by works by other puppeteers from different countries who were selected through an international call for entries. The result is a polyphonic overview of current aesthetic approaches and technical possibilities of modern puppet theatre. A special feature of the exhibition is its openness to experimentation: visitors can try out the mechanics for themselves on selected interactive objects. Movements, functions and technical principles can thus be experienced directly and make visible how much craftsmanship and inventiveness is contained in the often small, precisely crafted figures. The exhibition invites visitors to discover puppet theatre beyond classical stage contexts - as an independent artistic practice with great expressive power. Please note: Access is not barrier-free.
