On the evening of Japan Day, 23 May, the Izakaya Karaoke Night will take place at Velvet.
On this evening only, you can enjoy the popular dishes of the pop-up Izakaya Toi Izakaya Bar from Düsseldorf as well as Japanese-inspired drinks at Velvet.
An "Izakaya" is part of Japanese bar culture. It is a place where people enjoy drinks and share small dishes with friends - and simply spend time together. The dishes are called "Otsumami", something like the Japanese version of tapas. You order several small plates, place them in the centre and try them together piece by piece.
Based on this izakaya culture, Toi serves its own interpretation with small dishes, ramen and desserts. We also offer drinks with Japanese ingredients and sake.
The karaoke evening starts at 8pm. Karaoke originated in Japan in the 1970s and is now a culture that brings people together - even if they didn't know each other beforehand. At first it might be a bit unusual to sing in front of others, but as soon as someone starts, the mood changes. And suddenly you might want to pick up the mic yourself.
An evening just for yourself - Izakaya Karaoke Night. Come along with your friends.
