Event as part of the Art:walk Festival
K21 presents contemporary art in an open, light-flooded architecture. Installations, video works and sculptures by international artists meet talks, performances and concerts - and an impressive view over Düsseldorf from the dome.
The striking, light-flooded architecture forms the framework for contemporary art that deals with social, political and media issues - discursive, experimental and always close to the present. Installations, video works and sculptures by internationally renowned artists such as Ai Weiwei, Anne Imhof, Hito Steyerl and William Kentridge come together in the exhibition spaces. Their works stand for an art that not only wants to be viewed, but also experienced, scrutinised and thought about. The collection is complemented by a varied programme of talks, performances and concerts that make the museum a lively place of exchange. The view from the dome of the building offers a special experience: high above the exhibition rooms, a panorama opens up over the whole of Düsseldorf and combines art, architecture and the city in an unusual way.
