The solo exhibition of the artist Maximiliane Baumgartner (born 1986) at the Kunstverein comprises several chapters.
The starting point is Düsseldorf's Nordpark, which was created in 1937 as part of the so-called "Reichsausstellung Schaffendes Volk" (Reich Exhibition of the Creative People), but has hardly been analysed to date. In the project, Baumgartner builds on her many years of exploring spatial contexts, their social, political and historical implications as well as continuing Nazi continuities. These are reflected upon in terms of image and power criticism as a place for negotiating the present. The focus is on the medium of painting as an activating means of documentary processing.
