Event as part of the Art:walk Festival
On Museum night, everything in the castle tower revolves around historic Rhine steam navigation. In addition to the cabinet exhibition, a colourful postcard workshop, Rhine travellers from distant times and a historical board game with a view await you in the café.
The SchifffahrtMuseum (Shipping Museum) Düsseldorf awaits you directly on the Rheinuferpromande (Rhine embankment promenade) in the historic castle tower - the last remaining part of the old residential palace. On seven floors, you can discover the world of Rhine shipping and experience a varied programme on Museum Night. Look forward to the cabinet exhibition "200 years of KD - stories, faces, secrets" (1st floor, 16:00-00:00), which offers exciting insights into the history of Köln-Düsseldorfer Deutsche Rheinschifffahrt. In the postcard workshop, you can get creative yourself and colour in historical motifs (2nd floor, 16:00-00:00). A costume performance brings the early days of steam navigation to life (3rd floor, 16:30-23:30, every 45 minutes). In the café in the lantern, you can enjoy snacks, an impressive view of the Rhine and try out a historical board game (16:00-01:00, non-stop). (Source: SchifffahrtMuseum)
