Urban Art:walk in Bilk
Event as part of the Art:walk festival
30 minutes of urban art in Bilk: The tour leads to influential works by international artists in public spaces. It starts at Pretty Wall Bilk (Brunnenstraße/corner of Färberstraße) - a compact insight into the scene, background and development of the neighbourhood.
As part of the Art:walk Festival, the Urban Art:walk offers concentrated access to the urban art landscape of a neighbourhood in transition. Within around 30 minutes, the tour leads to selected works by international artists who have shaped and visually changed the neighbourhood over the years. The starting point is the Pretty Wall Bilk on the corner of Brunnenstraße/Färberstraße - a striking location that exemplifies the development of urban art in Düsseldorf. From here, the route leads through public space to other interventions that combine art, neighbourhood and urban culture. The walk will be accompanied by Klaus Rosskothen, gallery owner and curator of the Pretty Portal, who has realised numerous urban art projects in Düsseldorf. His insights provide background information on artistic concepts, working methods and the often long-term processes behind the visible works. The tour illuminates not only the aesthetic aspects, but also the interactions between the scene, urban development and public space. The Urban Art Walk sees itself as a compact foray through a lively environment in which art does not take place in the exhibition space, but is part of everyday life. This creates a multi-layered picture of current urban art directly on site - precise, approachable and in dialogue with the surroundings. (Source: Art:walk Festival)
