Frequently asked questions
Directions
The Christmas market is open from 20 November to 30 December. From Sunday to Thursday, it is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. On Friday and Saturday, the market is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. It is closed on Totensonntag (Sunday, 23 November) and Christmas Day (Wednesday, 25 December). In addition, special opening hours apply to the Christmas markets in Düsseldorf city centre on the following days: On Christmas Eve (Tuesday, 24 December), they are open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Boxing Day (Thursday, 26 December) from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The best way to reach the Düsseldorf Christmas market is by public transport – it's quick, stress-free and you don't have to worry about finding a parking space.
The central stop ‘Heinrich-Heine-Allee’ is located right by the market. As parking spaces in the city centre are very limited and are likely to be in high demand during the Christmas season, we recommend leaving your car at home and using the bus, train or Park & Ride services instead. Further information on how to get there can be found here.
We recommend using the numerous Park & Ride options.
The Rheinbahn offers a Park & Ride-Kombiticket in cooperation with D.LIVE and Düsseldorf Airport. On the one hand, there is a Park & Ride-Kombiticket with the airport, which allows you to use car park P13 at the airport. This also includes travel with Rheinbahn to the Christmas market in Düsseldorf city centre. All information can be found here. Another option is to park your car in the P7 car park at the MERKUR-SPIEL ARENA and take public transport to the city centre with the new Park & Ride-Kombiticket from D.LIVE and Rheinbahn. Further Information can be found here.
The Provinzial car park at Hohensandweg 41 offers a free alternative. It is located directly on the A46 motorway and will be available for use free of charge on busy days. On Saturdays in December (8, 15 and 22 December), the Provinzial car park can be used between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. From there, you can easily reach the city centre and the Christmas market by public transport.
If you are travelling by car, it is essential to check the occupancy of the car parks in the city centre before you get there, especially on busy Advent weekends. This can be done quickly and easily with the VT Manager. The VT Manager page also displays current traffic information such as roadworks and route congestion so that drivers can avoid traffic jams or switch to Park & Ride facilities.
There are several Christmas markets in the city centre. A good place to start is the Heinrich-Heine-Allee underground station, as it is centrally located in the city centre.
You can find an overview of all Christmas markets outside the city centre here.
The various themed markets are roughly the same size. They are also located close to each other in Düsseldorf city centre, making it easy to move from one Christmas market to the next. New this year is the Winter Village on Königsallee, organised by the Königsallee interest group. There is also the Christmas promenade on the banks of the Rhine, stretching from Burgplatz to the Old Harbour – organised by the Roncalli Circus Theatre.

Yes, there will be an ice rink on Königsallee again this year.
On Sunday, 30 November, shops will be open for business.
