Take a bow
In the late evening hours, the digital exhibition space "Take a bow" shows a varied programme of time-based works that correspond with current exhibitions as well as cultural events and themes in the city. With "Take a bow", the exhibition Underground Bodies will appear on the 335 square metres of LED screens at Kö-Bogen II for three hours a day from mid-February. Artist Anna Mirbach brings to light those hidden places in Düsseldorf that normally remain in the dark: underground infrastructure spaces such as bridge chambers, underground railway preliminary works or parts of the sewerage system.
Mirbach stages sculptural works of art at these locations, which she captures on film and makes visible as LED projections in the urban space. The installation combines physical, sometimes ghost-like sculptures with dramatic lighting and calm image compositions. The result is a fascinating look at the invisible backbone of the city - and at how art can transform these spaces. Düsseldorf Marketing, which is responsible for the coordination and programme design, is thus transforming Kö-Bogen II and the adjacent Schadowstraße from a highly frequented shopping street during the day into an inspiring cultural venue at night. "Take a bow" thus promotes the dialogue between exhibition space and art in public space and picks up on current exhibitions in Düsseldorf's museums.
